Creating and modifying document types

Introduction

On this page, you can configure a new or existing document type. By default, the General tab will be displayed.

Roles and rights

  • To create or modify document type definition, function right 361 - Maintain Document Type is required. By default, users with the Documents administrator role have this function right. However, a person defined at Manager under the General section can also modify the document type definition.
  • To modify the Versions settings under the More properties tab, function right 443 - Document administrator - Corporate level is required. By default, users with the Documents administrator role have this function right.

What version are you using?

The information in this document is applicable to product update 257 and higher. If you have versions lower than this, certain features explained here will not be applicable.

How do I create document types?

  1. On the Document: Types page, click New.
  2. Define the fields.
  3. Click Save to save the document type or Save + New to save the document type and create another document type.

Keep in mind: All fields with the “! icon is mandatory.

How do I edit document types?

  1. On the Document: Types page, select the required document type.
  2. Make the necessary change(s).
  3. Click Save.

How do I copy document types?

  1. On the Document: Types page, select the required document type.
  2. Click Copy.
  3. Define the fields.
  4. Click Save to save the document type or Save + New to save the document type and create another document type.

Keep in mind: All fields with the “! icon is mandatory.

How do I delete document types?

  1. On the Document: Types page, select the required document type.
  2. Click Delete. A message “Are you sure that you want to delete this record?” will be displayed.
  3. Click OK.
